Carol Mestern qualified as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist from the University of Cape Town in 2001 and received her Master’s degree (with distinction) in Speech-Language Pathology in 2006. She has more than a decade’s experience and has treated both children and adults with a variety of difficulties.

Carol worked in hospitals (focusing on adults with acquired speech and language impairments); as well as at a school for deaf and hard-of-hearing children.   She has been in full-time private practice since early 2013, based in mainly in the Fish Hoek and Tokai areas.

Carol has a keen interest in early intervention, particularly teaching listening and spoken language to deaf and hearing-impaired children. She accomplished a Post Graduate Diploma in “Listening and Spoken Language” from the University of Stellenbosch (2013). She has also completed the “Two-Week Intensive Training in Autism” at Vera School and the Hanen: “It Takes Two to Talk” certification.

Carol Mestern is a member of the South African Speech Language and Hearing Association as well as the South African Cochlear Implant Association.
